New Hospital Designation & Vendor Contract Fields
August 17, 2010
Several new hospital designation fields have recently been added to Portal Hospital accounts:
Rural
Rural facility designation denotes hospitals that operate outside of a metropolitan
statistical area (MSA), typically with fewer than 100 beds. To assist these hospitals and their
specific financial challenges, CMS programs reimburse the facilities at a higher rate.
Sole Community
Sole Community Hospitals (SCHs) are located more than 35 miles from other like hospitals, or
are the exclusive provider of services to at least 75 percent of its service area population. SCHs
also have special reimbursement considerations based on several CMS-outlined factors.
Magnet
Magnet status, a program developed by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC),
recognizes organizations that excel in the categories or nusing excellence, RN & patient
satisfaction and improvements in nursing-sensitive clinical outcome measures.
Additionally,
Food Services Contract &
Environmental Services Contract fields have been relocated from the Employee
Titles picklist to the Hospital Information section in the Field Chooser.
Each of these new fields can be found at the facility-detail view (where applicable) and are
available for download.
